The Spring session will run from Friday, February 21 through Thursday, April 17. Registration will open February 3 for the Spring session. Please note, there are no classes scheduled for Thursday, March 6 through Sunday March 9 due to hosting our annual Power in the Prairies competition. Fees and refund policies can be found here. Below you will find all the information on the programs being offered. Class times are subject to change based on registration and coach availability. If you know which class you are needing/wanting to register in you can go to our registration page below.
If you have any questions about our recreation program you can contact Tracy at [email protected] Register Here Once you are on our registration page, there is either a link to take you to the registration platform, or you will already be there. You will know you are there if you see the buttons for all of the registrations that are currently open. Once you are on the Registration platform, follow these steps: - Choose: "WINTER RECREATION AND HOMESCHOOL CLASSES 2024" - Read through the important information that is at the top. It is long, but very valuable information - scroll to the class that you are looking for - click the drop down to choose the days that this class is offered - click the drop down to find all the times offered that day - Once you have the class, day and time you are looking for, click the blue square to add your child to the class. - The system will guide you through the rest. Please make sure that you set up the account with the parent as the account owner, and the child registering in the class.
What to Know for your First Class....
Thank you for registering with our program! We hope you have a fantastic time at Taiso! You must have your fees paid 7 days before your program start date, or have provided funding applications to to office. Be sure to dress appropriately. (ie. shorts, t-shirt, bodysuit - no zippers, buttons, snaps, jewelry or dresses) Please have long hair pulled back in a ponytail or braids. A water bottle is needed. We now have a water bottle refueling station. You should NOT enter the gym if you are feeling ill. Please be sure to bring in your Assumption of Risk Waiver to your first class (see links below) This waiver is required once per year - between September and August. Recreation Programs
Below you will find class descriptions. There are classes that are offered most days of the week, at multiple times per day. Please see registation page for more information on the times and fees.

Preschool
Parent & Baby - not currently available This class is for walking toddlers ages 18 - 24 moths. The class is 30 minutes, once per week. The coach will guide the participants though a variety of age-appropriate activities on our pre-school sized equipment. This class is all about a fun introduction to gymnastics.
Parent & Tyke This class is for 2 year olds and younger 3 year olds that are exploring their independance, but still need the help of one of their parents, guardians or adult. This is a 45 minute class, once per week where the coach guides the Parent & Tyke team through various activities on the pre-school sized equipment. Parent, guardian or adult will be actively helping child. The goal is to teach the tykes to listen, follow direction, stay with the group and have fun!
Taiso Tykes 3 This class is for 3 year old, beginner participants. The class is 45 minutes, once per week. They will learn the fundamentals of gymnastics through a variety of activities on and off of the pre-school sized equipment. The activities are focused on what is age appropriate and safe for the particpants. Emphasis is on fun! *Participant must be 3 within the first 2 weeks of the session.
Taiso Tykes 4 This a beginner class for 4 year old participants. Like the Tykes 3, it is a 45 minute class where athletes will learn the fundamentals of gymnastics through a variety of activities on and off the equipment. The activities and expectations are focused on what is age appropriate and safe for the athletes. Once again, the emphasis is on fun! *Participant must be 4 within the first 2 weeks of the session.
5 years and older
Beginner Classes are offered for 5 - 7 year olds and 8 years and older. The class is 1 hour, once per week. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of gymnastics using the Canada wide CanGym program. This is a progressive program where the coaches will lead the participants to work on approximately 20 different requirements. Each requirement they are working on will help the athlete move smoothly to the next level. Focus is on safety, learning basics, building strength, body awareness, fun, fitness and understanding gymnastics. It is important to note that not all requirements will look like an actual skill yet. Skills, drills and progressions must be completed successfully to move to the next level. Beginner levels: Burgundy, Red
Intermediate Classes are offered for 5 and older who have successfully completed their red level. Unless specifically noted, the class may have a range in age. The class is 1 hour, once per week. Skills are starting to take shape, and getting progressively more difficult. The participants will work on approximately 20 different requirements. Each requirement they are working on will help the athlete move smoothly to the next level. Focus is on safety, learning basics, building strength, body awareness, fun, fitness and understanding gymnastics. It is important to note that not all requirements will look like an actual skill yet. Skills, drills and progressions must be completed successfully to move to the next level. Please note - If you have an ahtlete that will be worried about the possible range in ages, please email, and we will try find a class that will help them feel comfortable. Intermediate levels: tan, bronze Prerequisite level: red
Advanced Classes are offered for athletes who have successfully completed their bronze level. Programs are more specific to men's (vault, high bar, parallel bars, rings, pommel and floor) and women's (vault, uneven bars, beam and floor) events. The levels are becoming more skill-oriented, as the athletes should have a good understanding of the basics. It often takes the athletes multiple sessions to move through a level. Advanced levels: purple, blue, turquoise, silver, orange, yellow, green, and gold Prerequisite level: bronze
Homeschool
Similar to the programs above offered during the daytime for the homeschool community. Classes ore offered on Monday or Thursday mornings. The Homeschool programs do not currently work through the CanGym levels.
Teen and Adult
Teen This class is designed for athletes 12 - 15 year olds who would like to try gymnastics. No experience is necessary as each athlete will train to their own potential. The class is self-driven, with the guidance and direction of the coach. All events are worked on. Emphasis for this group is put on keeping the youth active, while having fun in a safe environment.
Adult This program is for athletes 16 and older. The class is offered once per week, for an hour and a half. It is designed to teach fitness and gymnastics fundamentals to older teen and adult participants. Emphasis will be placed on strength and flexibility followed by individual gymnastics progression. The first hour is structured, while the last half an hour is more self guided free time.
Acro & Tumbling
These classes are designed for athletes who want to improve their skill set and experience in tumbling. This class is perfect for dancers and cheerleaders, but is not limited to those. Athletes will have access to the rod floor, sprung floor, air floor, tumble trak, trampolines and foam pit. Please note, this is not a beginner class. Tumbling experience is necessary. Intermediate class requires consistent handstands, bridges and cartwheels. Advanced class requires consistent cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, and should have a solid start on walk-overs. Athletes will begin to work on handsprings and further skills.
Future Flippers
Future Flippers is by invitation only. The athletes are chosen between the ages of 4 - 8 years old that are showing potential for a higher level of gymnastics. Performance Girls and Achievement Boys
Performance Girls and Achievement Boys are programs designed for athletes that want more dedicated training, but the competitive program isn't suited for them.
