TAISO NEWS

TAISO is looking for a volunteer to step into the role of treasurer for the club.  Our current treasurer, Denise Graves, is stepping down after several years of service. This role does not begin "officially" until October of 2011, but it would be best if this person could learn the role while Denise is still in it.
Ideally, some bookkeeping experience would be an asset, but this is not
necessary.

TAISO GYMNASTICS is continually expanding its recreational and competitive programs, creating coaching opportunities for interested, qualified individuals. For more information about a possible coaching position, please contact us!

TAISO SURVEY:
Taiso is looking for your feedback! We are putting together a survey for families to complete so that any questions, concerns, and praises can be recognized and addressed. More information to follow.

Taiso will be hosting the trials for the Peter Vidmar competition on Saturday, February 4. Warm up starts at 3:30. Good luck to our SaskFirst athletes who are elegible to compete!

December 10-11, 2011:
Congratulations to Jayd Lukenchuk who shared the podium with World Champion KOHEI UCHIMURA when he captured bronze on high bar at the Toyota International competition in Japan. Jayd received another bronze medal on pommel, fourth on floor and vault, fifth on pbars and seventh on rings. Truly amazing!

December 10 and 11, 2011:
Taiso needs your help! Volunteers are needed to rip up the old carpet in the mezzanine and stairs to prepare the floor for the new carpet to be installed this week. We will be starting at 1:30 on Saturday. Come on out and earn some volunteer hours!!

December 10 - 11, 2011:
Congratulations to Curtis Graves and Anderson Loran who traveled with Markos to Dallas, Texas for the Valeri Liukin Invitational. The boys competed at the Elite Senior Level in which Anderson placed 9th overall and Curtis placed 14th overall. Click here for full results.

Taiso will be hosting a MAG talent camp on Saturday, Novemeber 19 from 1:30 to 6:60 and on Sunday, November 20 from 10 am to 2 pm. FAB testing will be included on Sunday. Deadline to register is November 11.

Congratulations to Taiso's Curtis Graves for his performance in the Commonwealth Youth Games at the Isle of Man, September 7 to 13, 2011!! He came in 11th place all around with a silver medal on high bar, a bronze medal on parallel bars and a bronze medal on rings. We are very proud of you! Team Canada captured the silver medal!! Nice work!

August 28 and 29, 2011
Thank you to all volunteers who pitched in at our annual pit repair and cleaning on Sunday, August 28 and Monday, August 29th. Your volunteer hours are greatly appreciated and the pit looks great!!

August 30 and 31, 2011
Mandatory in-person registration for the competitive program this year will take place on Tues. August 30th from 5:30-7:30 and Wed. August 31st from 6:00-8:00 at Taiso. Registration packages will be mailed to athletes so be sure to bring all necessary forms, cheques, and materials to one of these registration days! All athletes will need to be fully registered or they will not be allowed on the gym floor!  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!  Email office@taiso.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

Competitive training starts on Tues Sept. 6th.

A reminder/sign up sheet is to by posted in the foyer at the gym,
This is an excellent opportunity to start your volunteer hours for the next season!

A Sports Expo will be held at the Sasktel Sports Center from 10am to 6pm and Taiso has a booth! Be sure to check out the event and the demonstration by our Taiso boys! Volunteers will be needed to set up, take down, and man the booth.

August 24 and 25, 5-7pm
In-person registration for recreational classes will take place at Taiso. Please go to "Taiso Programs" for more information and for the registration form. Email info@taiso.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

Jayd Lukenchuk placed an impressive 9th overall at the Japan Cup held in Tokyo. Congratulations! Read the news release from Gymnnastics Canada.

Anderson Loran attended the Puerto Rican Cup in MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico in July. He qualified for the men's final by placing 4th on pommel and 7th on floor. Nice work, Anderson! See the news story on the Gymnastics Canada website.
